Ripstik Caster Board Review – Snowboarding On Wheels

By Jeff

Ripstik Caster Board
The Ripstik Caster Board for kids is a really cool way to get some fitness in while having tons of fun.

It’s considered a cross between a skateboard and a snowboard. Instead of the traditional four-wheel skateboard, this amazing board can make smooth, quick 360-degree turns on just two wheels.

You pretty much just twist and go. Its unique twisting motion moves you forward without ever pushing off the ground!

These boards are really popular and because of the design they are saying it’s a futuristic board already here today.

The design is really interesting and we’ll get into that later, but it’s like a skateboard you’ve never seen before.

I’ve seen this board in person and it’s really cool looking. Both boys and girls can have a lot of fun and a lot of exercise on one of these.

Here’s my warning label. Just like on a normal skateboard or bicycle, people should really consider using a helmet and knee/elbow pads

The Ripstik Caster Board is specifically designed for use outdoors, whether it’s on the driveway, a non-busy street, skateboard park or virtually anywhere.

It’s not your average skateboard with four wheels. It’s actually only got two wheels total. One in the front and one in the back.

It’s got concave deck platforms to place your feet, traction plates for grip and a torsion bar that holds the platforms together.

It’s designed for riders ages eight and up. Yes, many adults ride on them too. The boards support a weight limit up to 220 pounds.

There are all sorts of colors available so both boys and girls can ride them.

You can clean it by wiping with a damp cloth to remove dirt and dust. Do not use industrial cleaners or solvents as they may damage the surfaces. Do not use alcohol, alcohol-based or ammonia-based cleaners as they may damage or dissolve the plastic components.

The only assembly is if you need to change out the wheels later on.

Pros & Cons

product name prosPros:
The top pro for this Ripstik is pure fun. I guarantee you if this was around when I was riding skateboards I would have had one easily. For crying out loud, these boards are a fraction of the cost a decent skateboard was when I was a bit younger.

The second pro coming from a parent’s perspective is the huge amount of exercise a person gets while riding on the Ripstik. You’re exercising your legs, mid-section, arms and virtually every muscle.

There are a ton of colors to choose from and both guys and girls can find one which suits them.

product name consCons:
My only concern with this caster board is that some people talked about how quickly the wheels wore down.

I guess it depends on how much you use it, but one reviewer mentioned he tore up the wheels in just a few short weeks with replacements costing around $15.
