girl with thumbs upDid you know kids self esteem exercises can improve overall health? Many times self-esteem and self-confidence, although mental, is largely impacted by a child’s physical health.

When you feel good about yourself you are more likely to eat healthier and exercise more. Kids view themselves in the mirror and should like what they see and feel comfortable with how they look. Did you know parents are the main source of a child’s self-worth?

The real danger and hurt develops when children have a very low self-esteem. This is when it’s possible for eating disorders to possibly occur, such as anorexia, bulimia and overeating.

Even an overabundance of stress in a child’s life can lead to low self esteem which could turn into a cycle of overeating. Here is what Lori Lite, founder of StressFreeKids.com has to say.

Inability to manage stress coupled with lack of physical activity or exercise is a recipe for disaster. Chronic stress has been tied to an increase in appetite. Eating has become a stress reducing activity for many children. Stress releases cortisol which contributes to increased cravings of high-carbohydrate foods. A stress, weight gain, eating cycle begins.

How These Kids Self Esteem Exercises Can Improve Their Health

I think it really goes both ways. It is my belief that kids who exercise more than others have a much higher self esteem. I think kids who have a higher self-worth exercise and eat healthier.

Are you starting to think the mind and body work together? I think you’re right!

Some attributes of a high self-esteem are happiness, believing in yourself, enjoying the world, feeling energetic, confidence, and respecting and encouraging others.

When I feel those things, I am definitely more apt to exercise more and eat healthy foods.

    Courtney,

Thank you for commenting and you are exactly right. Isn’t it interesting that many times when one of those parts is a little off it throws off the other parts too?
