There is no doubt that parents are looking for activities to introduce exercise to their children. Many families know what sitting down on the couch watching TV and playing video games can do to their kids. Some families don’t, though, because they’re doing it too. Some of our older children are beyond the “Simon says” years so we need to find some cool games for kids.
Most of the exercise games I share on this site and through our products are appropriate for ages zero to 12. My dad was pretty hip to the times when I was 12, but how are we today with our children? Have you heard your children tell you, “mom, that isn’t cool”? If you have, that’s okay. Sometimes it’s a challenge to find “cool” exercise games especially when five different kids can have five different opinions on what “cool” actually means to them personally.
I have found some cool games for kids recently which incorporate exercise and are fun for all ages. Yes, I ended up playing for a few hours and I had a ton of fun plus got so much exercise that I was sweating and actually had to do my stretching routine afterwords.
Before I get to the specific game, I wanted to review with you why it’s important for our children to exercise in the first place. There are massive threats of child obesity related illnesses in our country today and it’s not improving. Do you want to know why? Because families are still not exercising and eating healthy foods.
Some get motivated and do a real good job for a couple of days but then the motivation disappears and old habits creep back in. This is why I have this Web site and others. I want to make it as easy as possible for you to incorporate kids exercise and child nutrition into your lives. I want it to become a normal way of life and not a chore.
Here is a solution you can incorporate today. These cool games blew my socks away. It’s the Xbox 360 Kinect system. I bet you’ve heard of it but have you played it? I played it with adults and children and can vouch that there are some cool games. We played Kinect Sports which have games such as track and field, table tennis, volleyball, boxing and bowling. Playing just one of those games had me sweating but wanting more. What a blast!
This is one solution you can add to your arsenal and I recommend you check it out and see how your family can benefit.
